SYDNEY, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Australian government spending for consumption rose 0.7 percent in the third quarter to an inflation-adjusted A$73.34 billion ($53.05 billion), the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported on Tuesday.
Investment spending by the government and public enterprises fell 9.2 percent to A$16.18 billion. This series has been greatly distorted in recent years by the transfer of assets between the public and private sectors.
The data will feed into the gross domestic product (GDP) report for the third quarter due on Wednesday. ($1 = 1.3824 Australian dollars)
