Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Life Insurance/Assurance and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (L:EZJ), which rose 3.42% or 53.000 points to trade at 1601.000 at the close. Meanwhile, International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (L:ICAG) added 2.87% or 15.50 points to end at 555.00 and Fresnillo PLC (L:FRES) was up 2.35% or 17.00 points to 739.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Prudential PLC (L:PRU), which fell 3.00% or 41.00 points to trade at 1326.50 at the close. BP PLC (L:BP) declined 2.43% or 9.1500 points to end at 366.9500 and Standard Chartered PLC (L:STAN) was down 2.33% or 11.000 points to 460.000.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1120 to 1049 and 409 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.93% or 10.40 to $1126.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 5.58% or 1.88 to hit $31.75 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 4.45% or 1.60 to trade at $34.39 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.91% to 1.4372, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.7582.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.50% at 99.09.
