Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Information Technology, Power & Energy and Diversified Holdings sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 14.29% or 0.10 points to trade at 0.80 at the close. Nawaloka Hospitals PLC (CM:NHL) added 7.89% or 0.30 points to end at 4.10 and Nation Lanka Finance PLC (CM:CSF) was up 7.69% or 0.10 points to 1.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Beruwala Resorts PLC (CM:BERU), which lost 11.76% or 0.20 points to trade at 1.50 in late trade. Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) declined 9.27% or 138.90 points to end at 1360.00 and Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML) shed 8.31% or 2.50 points to 27.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 95 to 59 and 61 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.71% or 0.35 to $49.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.86% or 0.43 to hit $50.17 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.38% or 4.70 to trade at $1228.50 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.15% to 215.390, while USD/LKR fell 0.13% to 146.550.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 95.15.
