Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Banking and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 3.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Autohellas (AT:AUTr), which rose 6.67% or 0.65 points to trade at 10.50 at the close. Creta Plastics (AT:PLAKR) added 5.43% or 0.19 points to end at 3.69 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) was up 3.33% or 0.022 points to 0.682 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr), which lost 12.36% or 0.054 points to trade at 0.383 in late trade. National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) declined 11.76% or 0.02 points to end at 0.15 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) shed 9.63% or 0.013 points to 0.122.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 68 to 26 and 7 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 2.19% or 26.80 to $1249.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.04% or 0.97 to hit $30.90 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.23% or 0.41 to trade at $32.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.1042, while EUR/GBP rose 0.70% to 0.7916.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 97.26.
