Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 1.43% or 0.32 points to trade at 22.75 at the close. Gemalto (AS:GTO) added 0.93% or 0.51 points to end at 55.40 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) was up 0.90% or 0.160 points to 17.850 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 3.61% or 0.266 points to trade at 7.099 in late trade. SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) declined 3.48% or 0.55 points to end at 15.24 and KPN Kon (AS:KPN) shed 2.23% or 0.062 points to 2.722.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 65 to 62 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.20% to 12.87.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.79% or 0.89 to $48.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.79% or 0.94 to hit $51.47 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.20% or 2.48 to trade at $1266.68 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.28% to 1.0873, while EUR/GBP fell 0.74% to 0.8426.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 99.04.
