Investing.com – Peru equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Non-Metal Minerals, Industrials and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lima, the S&P Lima General lost 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P Lima General were Southern Copper Corp (LM:SPC), which rose 4.16% or 1.40 points to trade at 35.03 at the close. Cerro Verde (LM:CVE) added 1.93% or 0.400 points to end at 21.100 and Volcan Minera (LM:VOL_pb) was up 1.30% or 0.010 points to 0.780 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grana Y Monter (LM:GRA), which lost 14.57% or 0.510 points to trade at 2.990 in late trade. Empresa Agroindustrial Pomalca (LM:POM) declined 5.56% or 0.010 points to end at 0.170 and Aceros Arequip (LM:AREi) shed 1.79% or 0.010 points to 0.550.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 16 to 7 and 10 ended unchanged on the Lima Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.55% or 0.81 to $53.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.78% or 0.98 to hit $56.08 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.30 to trade at $1196.30 a troy ounce.
USD/PEN was down 0.98% to 3.3634, while EUR/PEN rose 0.83% to 3.5880.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 101.38.
