Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Computers & Peripherals and Electronics sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Silitech Technology Corp (TW:3311), which rose 9.97% or 1.75 points to trade at 19.30 at the close. Powertech Industrial Co Ltd (TW:3296) added 9.80% or 1.95 points to end at 21.85 and Tai Twun Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3432) was up 9.71% or 1.35 points to 15.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Answer Technology Co Ltd (TW:3528), which lost 7.00% or 2.41 points to trade at 32.00 in late trade. Sintronic Technology Inc (TW:3536) declined 4.21% or 0.90 points to end at 20.50 and Yu Foong International Corp (TW:1438) shed 4.02% or 0.210 points to 5.020.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 386 to 368 and 124 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.04% or 0.02 to $47.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $49.63 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.61% or 7.48 to trade at $1226.68 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.13% to 30.483, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2230.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 95.91.
