Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 4.98% or 1.81 points to trade at 38.15 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) added 2.08% or 2.10 points to end at 103.30 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 1.85% or 0.47 points to 26.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.68% or 0.940 points to trade at 54.910 in late trade. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 1.09% or 0.21 points to end at 19.46 and UCB (BR:UCB) shed 0.92% or 0.57 points to 61.18.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 90 to 50 and 19 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.29% or 3.55 to $1213.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.41% or 0.68 to hit $47.56 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.59% or 0.29 to trade at $48.61 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.02% to 1.0629, while EUR/GBP rose 0.53% to 0.8552.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 101.05.
