Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 1.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which rose 2.80% or 0.335 points to trade at 12.285 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 2.03% or 1.070 points to end at 53.850 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 1.77% or 0.23 points to 12.97 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which lost 1.72% or 0.47 points to trade at 27.15 in late trade. Elia (BR:ELI) declined 0.95% or 0.435 points to end at 45.300 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) shed 0.47% or 0.11 points to 23.39.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 108 to 41 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.93% or 25.15 to $1279.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.70% or 0.31 to hit $44.38 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.11% or 0.05 to trade at $45.63 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.93% to 1.1036, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.8907.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.93% at 97.84.
