Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Chemicals, Banking and Household sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 1.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which rose 29.68% or 0.2060 points to trade at 0.9000 at the close. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) added 9.43% or 0.0150 points to end at 0.1740 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) was up 6.47% or 0.009 points to 0.148 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr), which lost 6.98% or 0.012 points to trade at 0.170 in late trade. Iaso (AT:IASr) declined 5.43% or 0.025 points to end at 0.435 and Hygeia (AT:HYGr) shed 5.37% or 0.008 points to 0.141.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 57 to 35 and 19 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.79% or 23.35 to $1281.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.66% or 0.29 to hit $44.36 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.09% or 0.04 to trade at $45.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.92% to 1.1038, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8904.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.92% at 97.83.
