Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Information Technology, Power & Energy and Footwear & Textile sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Kahawatte Plantations PLC (CM:KAHA), which rose 9.06% or 2.90 points to trade at 34.90 at the close. Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (CM:KVAL) added 8.71% or 4.80 points to end at 59.90 and Chemanex PLC (CM:CHMX) was up 8.35% or 5.00 points to 64.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO), which lost 11.59% or 113.00 points to trade at 862.00 in late trade. Paragon Ceylon PLC (CM:PARA) declined 10.34% or 6.00 points to end at 52.00 and Madulsima Plantations PLC (CM:MADU) shed 9.33% or 0.70 points to 6.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 76 to 63 and 64 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.16% or 0.07 to $44.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.43% or 0.20 to hit $46.15 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.05% or 0.65 to trade at $1302.65 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.34% to 184.635, while USD/LKR fell 0.28% to 147.965.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 97.22.
