Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Mining and Communication sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pioneer Corp. (T:6773), which rose 6.61% or 15.0 points to trade at 242.0 at the close. Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (T:9983) added 4.98% or 1650.0 points to end at 34800.0 and Inpex Corp. (T:1605) was up 3.79% or 37.3 points to 1021.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T:4151), which lost 2.91% or 46.0 points to trade at 1534.0 in late trade. DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432) declined 2.84% or 95.0 points to end at 3250.0 and Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (T:4519) shed 2.61% or 95.0 points to 3550.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1648 to 1241 and 369 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 5.84% to 20.01.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.65% or 0.33 to $50.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.31% or 0.16 to hit $52.19 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.04% or 0.45 to trade at $1257.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.28% to 104.00, while EUR/JPY fell 0.03% to 114.62.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.31% at 97.83.
