Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Iron Force (TW:2228), which rose 10.00% or 19.50 points to trade at 214.50 at the close. Global Lightin (TW:4935) added 7.93% or 5.50 points to end at 74.90 and Chang Ho (TW:1468) was up 7.66% or 0.80 points to 11.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Asmedia (TW:5269), which lost 9.27% or 25.50 points to trade at 249.50 in late trade. Cyberpower (TW:3617) declined 8.36% or 8.40 points to end at 92.10 and Aopen (TW:3046) shed 7.15% or 0.47 points to 6.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 481 to 267 and 103 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.80% or 0.40 to $49.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.66% or 0.34 to hit $51.47 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.60% or 7.55 to trade at $1261.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.45% to 31.766, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2127.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 97.91.
