Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Media, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which rose 3.41% or 0.49 points to trade at 14.88 at the close. Cyfrowy Polsat SA (WA:CPS) added 3.20% or 0.69 points to end at 22.22 and LPP SA (WA:LPPP) was up 3.10% or 154.45 points to 5134.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW), which lost 4.22% or 3.13 points to trade at 71.05 in late trade. Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW) declined 2.82% or 7.55 points to end at 259.95 and mBank (WA:MBK) shed 1.95% or 6.20 points to 312.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 270 to 247 and 156 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 2.06% or 1.00 to $49.62 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.67% or 0.83 to hit $50.47 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.36% or 4.50 to trade at $1247.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.79% to 4.3552, while USD/PLN fell 0.68% to 3.8358.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 94.03.
