Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Retail, Utilities and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Reds (AT:CAMr), which rose 6.13% or 0.019 points to trade at 0.329 at the close. Centric Hold (AT:DESr) added 3.74% or 0.004 points to end at 0.110 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) was up 3.48% or 0.024 points to 0.714 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lykos Inform. (AT:LYKr), which lost 9.09% or 0.05 points to trade at 0.46 in late trade. Halcor (AT:XAKO) declined 5.02% or 0.015 points to end at 0.284 and Iaso (AT:IASr) shed 4.23% or 0.022 points to 0.500.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 55 to 39 and 11 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.88% or 11.15 to $1275.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.49% or 1.11 to hit $45.77 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.05% or 1.39 to trade at $46.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.54% to 1.1433, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.7908.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.48% at 93.77.
