Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Finance & Investment and Telecoms sectors led shares higher while losses in the Transport, Insurance and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.28% to hit a new 52-week low, while the ADX General index gained 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC), which rose 6.55% or 0.035 points to trade at 0.569 at the close. Meanwhile, Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) added 4.58% or 0.021 points to end at 0.480 and Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) was up 3.60% or 0.020 points to 0.575 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oman Insurance Company P.S.C. (DU:OIC), which fell 9.74% or 0.190 points to trade at 1.760 at the close. Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB) declined 4.35% or 4.00 points to end at 88.00 and ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) was down 3.57% or 0.100 points to 2.700.
The top performers on the ADX General were Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which rose 10.84% to 0.92, Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which was up 5.00% to settle at 0.420 and Aldar Properti (AD:ALDR) which gained 4.30% to close at 1.94.
The worst performers were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was down 10.00% to 2.70 in late trade, Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which lost 8.89% to settle at 0.900 and Abu Dhabi National Hotels Co (AD:ADNH) which was down 7.41% to 2.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 18 to 10 and 1 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 16 fell and 9 advanced, while 1 ended unchanged.
Shares in Oman Insurance Company P.S.C. (DU:OIC) fell to all time lows; losing 9.74% or 0.190 to 1.760. Shares in ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.57% or 0.100 to 2.700.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.41% or 0.12 to $30.52 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.45% or 0.13 to hit $29.07 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.05% or 0.50 to trade at $1090.20 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.02% to 3.6733, while EUR/AED fell 0.10% to 4.0022.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 99.08.
