WELLINGTON, Dec 11 (Reuters) - New Zealand's government on Monday named Adrian Orr as the Reserve Bank of New Zealand's next governor.
Orr, who currently heads the country's superannuation fund, will take up the new role on March 27, Finance Minister Grant Robertson said in an emailed statement.
Previous governor Graeme Wheeler stepped down in September at the end of his five year term and then-deputy governor Grant Spencer took on the role on for a six-month term while the search for a new governor was under way.
The New Zealand dollar NZD=D4 jumped 0.4 percent to a five-day high of $0.6885 after the announcement.
