Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the General Retailers, Industrial Engineering and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.01%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.93%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (PARIS:PRTP), which rose 5.57% or 9.10 points to trade at 172.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB) added 3.10% or 3.85 points to end at 128.00 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH) was up 3.01% or 4.85 points to 165.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PARIS:MICP), which fell 6.07% or 5.74 points to trade at 88.76 at the close. GDF Suez SA (PARIS:GSZ) declined 1.96% or 0.33 points to end at 16.54 and Alcatel Lucent SA (PARIS:ALUA) was down 1.33% or 0.044 points to 3.253.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Altran Technologies (PARIS:ALTT) which rose 6.17% to 10.920, Kering SA (PARIS:PRTP) which was up 5.57% to settle at 172.50 and Mercialys (PARIS:MERY) which gained 3.29% to close at 20.70.
The worst performers were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PARIS:MICP) which was down 6.07% to 88.76 in late trade, Saft (PARIS:S1A) which lost 2.60% to settle at 35.90 and SES (PARIS:SESFd) which was down 2.45% to 27.30 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 483 to 331 and 60 ended unchanged.
Shares in Altran Technologies (PARIS:ALTT) rose to 5-year highs; rising 6.17% or 0.635 to 10.920.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.47% to 19.79.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.18% or 2.00 to $1094.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.58% or 0.75 to hit $48.14 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.40% or 0.21 to trade at $53.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.32% to 1.1053, while EUR/GBP fell 0.66% to 0.7079.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 96.78.
