Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Insurance, Oil & Gas and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB), which rose 3.80% or 0.07 points to trade at 1.92 at the close. Meanwhile, Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 2.62% or 0.06 points to end at 2.35 and Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) was up 2.31% or 2.69 points to 119.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which fell 7.74% or 3.52 points to trade at 41.98 at the close. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) declined 4.26% or 0.040 points to end at 0.900 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) was down 3.02% or 0.46 points to 14.79.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 22 to 20 and 44 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 2.97% or 1.09 to $35.67 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 5.73% or 2.27 to hit $37.45 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.27% or 2.90 to trade at $1074.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.18% to 218.570, while USD/NGN fell 0.25% to 198.450.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.40% at 97.52.
