Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Resources and Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 2.30% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were FHL I Kiriakidis Marbles and Granites SA (AT:KRKr), which rose 4.65% or 0.100 points to trade at 2.250 at the close. Meanwhile, Athens Water (AT:EYDr) added 3.70% or 0.20 points to end at 5.60 and Intralot (AT:INLr) was up 2.99% or 0.04 points to 1.38 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Creta Plastics (AT:PLAKR), which fell 6.67% or 0.40 points to trade at 5.60 at the close. Corinth Pipe (AT:CORr) declined 6.61% or 0.080 points to end at 1.130 and Hell.Exchanges (AT:EXCr) was down 6.19% or 0.33 points to 5.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 52 to 32 and 7 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.61% or 6.40 to $1062.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.82% or 0.76 to hit $42.47 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.59% or 0.71 to trade at $45.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.28% to 1.0563, while EUR/GBP fell 0.42% to 0.7016.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 100.27.
