Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were MVideo (MCX:MVID), which rose 3.81% or 10.30 points to trade at 280.60 at the close. PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) added 3.61% or 99.0 points to end at 2838.0 and Akron (MCX:AKRN) was up 2.50% or 90.0 points to 3690.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM), which lost 2.68% or 2.57 points to trade at 93.48 in late trade. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 2.37% or 4300 points to end at 176800 and VTB (MCX:VTBR) shed 2.35% or 0.0018 points to 0.0735.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 116 to 106 and 18 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.92% to 36.080.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.11% or 1.40 to $1233.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.77% or 0.32 to hit $41.39 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.16% or 0.07 to trade at $43.17 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.27% to 66.2231, while EUR/RUB fell 0.14% to 74.899.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 94.46.
