Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 1.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 7.62% or 0.294 points to trade at 4.150 at the close. B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) added 6.71% or 0.099 points to end at 1.575 and Banco Popular (MC:POP) was up 6.58% or 0.146 points to 2.366 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Acerinox (MC:ACX), which lost 2.55% or 0.256 points to trade at 9.774 in late trade. Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) declined 1.79% or 0.185 points to end at 10.160 and Enagas (MC:ENAG) shed 1.51% or 0.395 points to 25.765.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 127 to 76 and 19 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.83% or 10.20 to $1241.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.03% or 0.01 to hit $34.41 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.33% or 0.12 to trade at $36.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.19% to 1.0846, while EUR/GBP fell 0.92% to 0.7718.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 98.42.
