Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Banking and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 1.31% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR), which rose 10.13% or 0.47 points to trade at 5.11 at the close. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) added 10.10% or 1.70 points to end at 18.53 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was up 9.52% or 0.120 points to 1.380 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE), which lost 4.72% or 45.50 points to trade at 918.50 in late trade. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) declined 3.42% or 2.50 points to end at 70.50 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) shed 1.92% or 0.010 points to 0.500.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 58 to 27 and 23 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.26% or 0.12 to $45.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $48.05 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 1.04% or 13.49 to trade at $1279.71 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.20% to 353.610, while USD/NGN rose 0.31% to 325.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 97.05.
