Investing.com – Poland stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Information Technology and Food sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 0.87%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW), which rose 5.19% or 4.42 points to trade at 89.62 at the close. Meanwhile, Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP) added 4.19% or 2.41 points to end at 59.92 and Bank Polska Kasa Opieki SA (WA:PEO) was up 4.17% or 6.50 points to 162.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH), which fell 3.85% or 3.74 points to trade at 93.36 at the close. Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) declined 3.46% or 0.13 points to end at 3.63 and Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) was down 2.61% or 1.07 points to 39.99.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 270 to 250 and 115 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) fell to all time lows; down 3.46% or 0.13 to 3.63.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 2.11% or 1.01 to $48.99 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.72% or 0.39 to hit $53.69 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.17% or 1.90 to trade at $1094.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.28% to 4.1293, while USD/PLN rose 0.59% to 3.7462.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 96.97.
