Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Utilities and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were STMicroelectronics (MI:STM), which rose 4.69% or 0.230 points to trade at 5.130 at the close. Banco Popolare (MI:BAPO) added 4.61% or 0.2750 points to end at 6.2400 and Ferrari NV (MI:RACE) was up 3.20% or 1.20 points to 38.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Saipem (MI:SPMI), which lost 2.89% or 0.0105 points to trade at 0.3534 in late trade. Anima Holding SpA (MI:ANIM) declined 2.40% or 0.14 points to end at 5.90 and Exor (MI:EXOR) shed 2.26% or 0.71 points to 30.77.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 215 to 170 and 27 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 2.75% or 1.14 to $40.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 2.19% or 0.96 to hit $42.88 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.85% or 10.40 to trade at $1236.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1307, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.7944.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.43% at 94.53.
