Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Materials, Healthcare and Energy sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Kinaxis Inc (TO:KXS), which rose 4.47% or 2.83 points to trade at 66.17 at the close. Advantage Oil & Gas Ltd. (TO:AAV) added 3.56% or 0.350 points to end at 10.180 and Western Forest Products Inc (TO:WEF) was up 3.55% or 0.070 points to 2.040 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Asanko Gold Inc (TO:AKG), which lost 5.15% or 0.260 points to trade at 4.790 in late trade. Tahoe Resources Inc (TO:THO) declined 4.91% or 0.75 points to end at 14.51 and Kinross Gold Corporation (TO:K) shed 4.44% or 0.22 points to 4.74.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 658 to 507 and 127 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 2.19% to 15.16.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.37% or 4.65 to $1252.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.24% or 0.12 to hit $50.32 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.04 to trade at $51.99 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.32% to 0.7605, while CAD/EUR rose 1.09% to 0.6930.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.54% at 98.06.
