Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Food Producers and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which rose 4.44% or 0.24 points to trade at 5.69 at the close. Meanwhile, Delhaize Group (BR:DELB) added 1.36% or 1.22 points to end at 90.94 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 0.99% or 0.15 points to 15.27 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DIeteren SA (BR:IETB), which fell 3.59% or 1.080 points to trade at 28.970 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) declined 1.88% or 1.64 points to end at 85.52 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was down 1.28% or 1.65 points to 127.35.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 85 to 68 and 5 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.55% or 6.00 to $1091.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.13% or 0.04 to hit $30.48 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.78% or 0.55 to trade at $30.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.0852, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.7506.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 99.09.
