Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Services and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.35% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 0.65% or 0.09 points to trade at 13.93 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 0.37% or 0.055 points to end at 15.080 and Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) was up 0.35% or 0.35 points to 101.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which lost 3.57% or 1.15 points to trade at 30.92 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 3.19% or 1.32 points to end at 40.08 and UCB (BR:UCB) shed 1.66% or 1.03 points to 60.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 80 to 35 and 7 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.59% or 20.30 to $1255.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.56% or 0.25 to hit $44.48 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.12 to trade at $46.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.70% to 1.1140, while EUR/GBP fell 0.68% to 0.8740.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.64% at 97.53.
