Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Chemicals and Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 2.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP), which rose 6.96% or 2.43 points to trade at 37.35 at the close. Enea SA (WA:ENAE) added 5.04% or 0.48 points to end at 10.00 and Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) was up 4.95% or 3.39 points to 71.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WA:PZU), which lost 0.25% or 0.07 points to trade at 27.64 in late trade. Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) added 0.14% or 0.09 points to end at 64.36 and ING Bank Śląski SA (WA:INGP) gained 0.52% or 0.65 points to 125.65.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 288 to 183 and 193 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.97% or 0.44 to $44.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.92% or 0.43 to hit $46.33 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.10% or 1.35 to trade at $1359.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.33% to 4.4304, while USD/PLN rose 0.38% to 4.0100.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 96.64.
