Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which rose 0.93% or 0.140 points to trade at 15.260 at the close. Philips Kon (AS:PHG) added 0.64% or 0.20 points to end at 32.13 and DSM Kon (AS:DSMN) was up 0.51% or 0.34 points to 66.81 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 4.37% or 3.580 points to trade at 78.320 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) declined 3.02% or 0.218 points to end at 7.001 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) shed 2.08% or 0.88 points to 41.12.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 54 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.66% to 13.34.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.23% or 0.11 to $47.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $50.46 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.54% or 6.84 to trade at $1250.16 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.0917, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8456.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 98.94.
