Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Food and Travel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 1.33% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which rose 12.60% or 0.016 points to trade at 0.143 at the close. Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) added 7.22% or 0.019 points to end at 0.282 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was up 5.42% or 0.051 points to 0.992 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which lost 10.00% or 0.0270 points to trade at 0.2430 in late trade. Reds (AT:CAMr) declined 8.33% or 0.030 points to end at 0.330 and Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr) shed 1.92% or 0.0500 points to 2.5500.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 61 to 40 and 12 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.32% or 3.95 to $1243.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.50% or 0.25 to hit $49.94 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.73% or 0.37 to trade at $50.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.1355, while EUR/GBP fell 0.86% to 0.7795.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.17% at 93.87.
