Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms & IT, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 1.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mapfre (MC:MAP), which rose 0.83% or 0.027 points to trade at 3.287 at the close. Gamesa (MC:GAM) added 0.73% or 0.150 points to end at 20.680 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was up 0.49% or 0.035 points to 7.240 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popular (MC:POP), which lost 6.63% or 0.056 points to trade at 0.788 in late trade. Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) declined 4.32% or 0.243 points to end at 5.389 and Telefonica (MC:TEF) shed 4.02% or 0.420 points to 10.030.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 127 to 47 and 24 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.36% or 4.39 to $1223.29 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.16% or 0.55 to hit $47.88 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.10% or 0.55 to trade at $50.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.0867, while EUR/GBP rose 0.51% to 0.8442.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 99.53.
