Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Industrial Metals & Mining and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 5.59% or 76.00 points to trade at 1436.00 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 4.88% or 36.50 points to end at 784.50 and Capita PLC (LON:CPI) was up 4.32% or 23.50 points to 568.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which lost 3.17% or 10.85 points to trade at 331.60 in late trade. Standard Life PLC (LON:SL) declined 2.24% or 8.50 points to end at 371.50 and BP PLC (LON:BP) shed 1.53% or 7.20 points to 463.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1047 to 873 and 475 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.15% or 1.85 to $1203.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.19% or 0.09 to hit $48.40 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.03 to trade at $51.40 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.48% to 1.2229, while EUR/GBP fell 0.72% to 0.8718.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 101.18.
