Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Electronic Products Distribution and Other Electronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Aurotek (TW:6215), which rose 9.80% or 1.20 points to trade at 13.45 at the close. Aver (TW:3669) added 9.78% or 1.80 points to end at 20.20 and China Tv (TW:9928) was up 8.00% or 0.44 points to 5.94 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Macronix (TW:2337), which lost 10.00% or 0.260 points to trade at 2.340 in late trade. Inotera Memo (TW:3474) declined 10.00% or 2.65 points to end at 23.85 and Candmark (TW:5259) shed 9.56% or 0.13 points to 1.23.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 501 to 241 and 110 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.92% or 0.45 to $48.43 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.79% or 0.40 to hit $49.95 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.41% or 5.25 to trade at $1281.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.14% to 32.382, while TWD/CNY fell 0.10% to 0.2035.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 94.56.
