Investing.com – Peru equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the S&P Lima Juniors, Banking & Financials and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lima, the S&P Lima General gained 0.63% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P Lima General were Volcan Minera (LM:VOL_pb), which rose 14.62% or 0.050 points to trade at 0.392 at the close. Atacocha (LM:ATB) added 10.00% or 0.015 points to end at 0.165 and Backus Johnsto (LM:BKJi) was up 5.93% or 0.700 points to 12.500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Corporacion Aceros Arequipa SA (LM:ARE), which lost 8.70% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.420 in late trade. Relapasa (LM:REL) declined 5.80% or 0.008 points to end at 0.130 and Sider (LM:SID) shed 3.23% or 0.005 points to 0.150.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 16 to 9 and 9 ended unchanged on the Lima Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.10% or 0.35 to $32.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 3.52% or 1.17 to hit $34.44 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.60% or 7.30 to trade at $1229.90 a troy ounce.
USD/PEN was down 0.01% to 3.5305, while EUR/PEN rose 0.04% to 3.8699.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 97.50.
