Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Financial Services & Real Estate and Telecoms & IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Int.Airl.Grp (MADRID:ICAG), which rose 2.32% or 0.185 points to trade at 8.159 at the close. Meanwhile, Endesa (MADRID:ELE) added 2.10% or 0.375 points to end at 18.205 and Bankinter (MADRID:BKT) was up 1.33% or 0.096 points to 7.334 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Arcel. Mittal (MADRID:MTS), which fell 3.24% or 0.272 points to trade at 8.112 at the close. Abengoa B (MADRID:ABGek) declined 2.89% or 0.078 points to end at 2.625 and Acerinox (MADRID:ACX) was down 2.25% or 0.265 points to 11.525.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 109 to 104 and 2 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was down 1.01% or 11.10 to $1092.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.08% or 1.06 to hit $49.80 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.11% or 0.64 to trade at $56.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.43% to 1.0888, while EUR/GBP fell 0.70% to 0.6981.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 97.85.
