Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Utilities and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite fell 3.80% to hit a new 3-years low.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr), which rose 4.62% or 0.085 points to trade at 1.925 at the close. Meanwhile, Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) added 3.76% or 0.034 points to end at 0.939 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) was up 2.40% or 0.007 points to 0.299 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which fell 29.87% or 0.138 points to trade at 0.324 at the close. National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) declined 23.15% or 0.12 points to end at 0.41 and Viohalco SA (AT:VIOH) was down 9.04% or 0.150 points to 1.510.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 72 to 31 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) fell to all time lows; down 29.87% or 0.138 to 0.324. Shares in National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) fell to all time lows; falling 23.15% or 0.12 to 0.41. Shares in Viohalco SA (AT:VIOH) fell to all time lows; down 9.04% or 0.150 to 1.510.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.36% or 3.90 to $1071.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.96% or 0.36 to hit $37.87 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.91% or 0.36 to trade at $40.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.72% to 1.0970, while EUR/GBP fell 0.42% to 0.7232.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.69% at 97.74.
