Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Healthcare and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 1.47% or 0.88 points to trade at 60.73 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) added 1.03% or 0.60 points to end at 58.74 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) was up 0.87% or 0.38 points to 43.57 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 0.48% or 0.320 points to trade at 66.410 in late trade. Ageas (BR:AGES) declined 0.33% or 0.125 points to end at 37.655 and Sofina (BR:SOF) shed 0.27% or 0.35 points to 129.35.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 56 to 47 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.67% or 8.43 to $1264.83 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.23% or 0.60 to hit $49.50 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.89% or 0.46 to trade at $51.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.39% to 1.1166, while EUR/GBP rose 0.83% to 0.8733.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 97.44.
