Investing.com – Finland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Helsinki, the OMX Helsinki 25 rose 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the OMX Helsinki 25 were Metsa Board Oyj B (HE:METSB), which rose 2.42% or 0.145 points to trade at 6.125 at the close. Metso Oyj (HE:METSO) added 1.60% or 0.42 points to end at 26.70 and Neste Oil Oyj (HE:NESTE) was up 1.60% or 0.61 points to 38.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elisa Oyj (HE:ELISA), which lost 0.90% or 0.27 points to trade at 29.62 in late trade. Tieto Oyj (HE:TIE1V) declined 0.71% or 0.17 points to end at 23.94 and YIT Oyj (HE:YTY1V) shed 0.53% or 0.04 points to 7.55.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 85 to 81 and 28 ended unchanged on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for February delivery was up 8.73% or 4.13 to $51.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 8.31% or 3.76 to hit $48.99 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 1.30% or 15.45 to trade at $1175.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.57% to 1.0589, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.8481.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.62% at 101.61.
