Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Investment Trust, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Construction & Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL), which rose 20.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.600 at the close. Associated Motor Finance Company PLC (CM:ASSO) added 16.78% or 71.40 points to end at 497.00 and Commercial Development Company PLC (CM:COMD) was up 12.41% or 10.30 points to 93.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arpico Finance Company PLC (CM:ARPI), which lost 15.34% or 29.90 points to trade at 165.00 in late trade. Swarnamahal Financial Services PLC (CM:SWAR) declined 11.76% or 0.200 points to end at 1.500 and EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR) shed 8.81% or 116.90 points to 1210.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 94 to 69 and 46 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.29% or 0.65 to $51.01 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.34% or 0.69 to hit $52.13 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.68% or 8.45 to trade at $1255.45 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.28% to 212.140, while USD/LKR rose 0.02% to 145.880.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 93.71.
