Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 2.14% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Heineken (AS:HEIN), which rose 2.93% or 2.31 points to trade at 81.23 at the close. Unilever NV (AS:UNc) added 2.90% or 1.20 points to end at 42.48 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) was up 2.88% or 0.62 points to 22.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO), which lost 10.64% or 1.40 points to trade at 11.71 in late trade. KPN Kon (AS:KPN) added 0.59% or 0.017 points to end at 2.897 and NN Group (AS:NN) gained 0.60% or 0.16 points to 26.92.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 127 to 36 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 9.84% to 15.58 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 2.97% or 1.28 to $44.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 2.99% or 1.36 to hit $46.81 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.54% or 7.15 to trade at $1324.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1155, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.8388.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 95.90.
