Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Utilities and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BR:KBC), which rose 2.48% or 1.330 points to trade at 54.860 at the close. Meanwhile, UCB (BR:UCB) added 0.90% or 0.64 points to end at 71.52 and Delhaize Group (BR:DELB) was up 0.48% or 0.39 points to 81.89 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which fell 4.02% or 0.30 points to trade at 7.25 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) declined 2.73% or 1.05 points to end at 37.66 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was down 1.77% or 0.28 points to 15.81.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 74 to 73 and 5 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.02% or 0.20 to $1166.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.57% or 1.13 to hit $42.85 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.01% or 0.95 to trade at $46.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.1039, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.7210.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 97.02.
