July 20 (Reuters) - Australian oil and gas producer Santos Ltd STO.AX reported a sharp rise in second-quarter sales revenue on higher sales and improved oil and liquefied natural gas prices.
The company's quarterly sales revenue rose to $769 million from $591 million in the same quarter a year ago, above the forecast of $692 million from Royal Bank of Canada.
During the quarter, the company's production fell to 14.7 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe) compared with 15.5 mmboe a year ago, it said in a statement.
The company marginally raised its production forecast for 2017 to 57-60 mmboe from the previous guidance of 55-60 mmboe.
