Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Shipbuilding sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (T:7211), which rose 3.55% or 31.0 points to trade at 904.5 at the close. Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202) added 3.40% or 29.0 points to end at 882.0 and Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911) was up 3.26% or 138.0 points to 4369.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Minebea Mitsumi Inc (T:6479), which lost 2.99% or 56.0 points to trade at 1818.0 in late trade. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (T:9104) declined 1.97% or 7.0 points to end at 347.5 and Hitachi Construction Machinery Co (T:6305) shed 1.77% or 60.0 points to 3330.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2400 to 832 and 259 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.81% to 13.66.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.41% or 0.21 to $50.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $56.41 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 2.10 to trade at $1295.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.19% to 112.20, while EUR/JPY fell 0.17% to 133.61.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 92.16.
