Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Leasing & Factoring, Sports and Transport sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 fell 1.99% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Metro Holding (IS:METRO), which rose 14.12% or 0.120 points to trade at 0.970 at the close. Netas Telekomunikasyon AS (IS:NETAS) added 2.41% or 0.24 points to end at 10.18 and Odas Elektrik (IS:ODAS) was up 1.35% or 0.090 points to 6.740 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hurriyet Gzt. (IS:HURGZ), which lost 8.82% or 0.060 points to trade at 0.620 in late trade. Turk Telekom (IS:TTKOM) declined 7.78% or 0.43 points to end at 5.10 and Dogan Holding (IS:DOHOL) shed 7.14% or 0.050 points to 0.650.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 337 to 44 and 24 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.46% or 5.40 to $1168.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.84% or 1.90 to hit $51.34 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 3.94% or 2.04 to trade at $53.88 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 1.67% to 3.4951, while EUR/TRY rose 1.90% to 3.7098.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 101.36.
