Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 added 1.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Prysmian (MI:PRY), which rose 6.45% or 1.19 points to trade at 19.64 at the close. Banca Mediolanum SpA (MI:BMED) added 5.23% or 0.305 points to end at 6.135 and Buzzi Unicem (MI:BZU) was up 5.09% or 0.76 points to 15.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Luxottica Group (MI:LUX), which lost 4.40% or 2.01 points to trade at 43.64 in late trade. Mediaset (MI:MS) declined 3.27% or 0.106 points to end at 3.132 and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) shed 2.44% or 0.0095 points to 0.3792.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 262 to 138 and 28 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.19% or 1.09 to $48.79 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 2.32% or 1.19 to hit $50.13 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.59% or 7.85 to trade at $1319.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.48% to 1.1071, while EUR/GBP rose 0.70% to 0.8344.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 96.22.
