Investing.com – Spain stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Services and Building & Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 1.48% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Endesa (MC:ELE), which rose 0.64% or 0.115 points to trade at 18.160 at the close. Meanwhile, Amadeus IT (MC:AMA) added 0.25% or 0.100 points to end at 40.030 and Red Electrica Corp. (MC:REE) was down 0.20% or 0.150 points to 75.580 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which fell 6.48% or 0.256 points to trade at 3.696 at the close. Indra A (MC:IDR) declined 4.47% or 0.389 points to end at 8.322 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was down 4.42% or 0.415 points to 8.980.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 177 to 31 and 3 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was up 1.17% or 12.60 to $1091.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 4.61% or 1.66 to hit $34.31 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 5.01% or 1.82 to trade at $34.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.0757, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.7356.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 99.48.
