Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Aerospace & Defense and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Mail PLC (L:RMG), which rose 2.50% or 11.90 points to trade at 488.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Old Mutual PLC (L:OML) added 2.42% or 4.90 points to end at 207.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (L:RR) was up 2.03% or 11.00 points to 552.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Barclays PLC (L:BARC), which fell 3.50% or 8.0500 points to trade at 221.9000 at the close. G4S PLC (L:GFS) declined 3.01% or 6.80 points to end at 219.00 and Lloyds Banking Group PLC (L:LLOY) was down 2.11% or 1.5500 points to 71.7800.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1111 to 935 and 492 ended unchanged.

Gold for December delivery was down 0.14% or 1.50 to $1076.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.12% or 0.05 to hit $41.67 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.32 to trade at $44.49 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.64% to 1.5192, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.7013.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.53% at 99.61.
