Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electricity, Paper & Pulp and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.64% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348), which rose 9.98% or 2.40 points to trade at 26.45 at the close. Hung Chou Fiber Ind Co Ltd (TW:1413) added 9.98% or 0.60 points to end at 6.61 and Chung Fu Tex-International Corp (TW:1435) was up 9.94% or 0.520 points to 5.750 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jenn Feng New Energy Co Ltd (TW:1538), which lost 7.63% or 0.72 points to trade at 8.72 in late trade. China Electric Manufacturing Corp (TW:1611) declined 5.19% or 0.46 points to end at 8.40 and Alchip Technologies Ltd (TW:3661) shed 4.92% or 3.00 points to 58.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 509 to 256 and 107 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.76% or 0.39 to $51.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.83% or 0.45 to hit $54.41 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.40% or 5.05 to trade at $1258.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.37% to 30.059, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2287.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 96.92.
