Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Consumer Services and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which rose 1.58% or 0.85 points to trade at 54.72 at the close. Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) added 1.37% or 1.45 points to end at 107.15 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 1.29% or 0.38 points to 29.94 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.28% or 0.600 points to trade at 46.400 in late trade. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) declined 0.49% or 0.12 points to end at 23.41 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) shed 0.40% or 0.45 points to 112.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 91 to 57 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.58% or 20.45 to $1271.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.68% or 0.84 to hit $49.12 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.68% or 0.85 to trade at $49.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.50% to 1.1258, while EUR/GBP fell 0.32% to 0.7675.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.37% at 94.03.
